Title: A gentle introduction to PCF

Abstract:

Shelah's PCF theory is a powerful set of tools for analysing the combinatorics of singular cardinals. It has been applied to prove results in many areas including cardinal arithmetic, Ramsey theory, and group theory.

In this series of talks I will introduce the main ideas and sketch some of the principal applications.
